All of our teachers have been personally trained by Cyndi Lee, creator of OM yoga, internationally touring yoga teacher, highly respected meditation teacher, and critically acclaimed author.
Cyndi Lee, Founder & Owner
Cyndi Lee is the first female Western yoga teacher to fully integrate yoga asana and Tibetan Buddhism in her practice and teaching. In 1998, she founded the OM yoga Center in NYC, which became a mecca for yogis worldwide. One of the most influential teachers in the U.S., Cyndi is known for her dynamic and contemplative classes, creative, safe and sane sequencing, smart and soulful teachings — all offered in a non-competitive environment of goodness.
When she’s not on the mat and cushion, Cyndi writes. Her newest book is the The New York Times critically acclaimed May I Be Happy: A Memoir of Love, Yoga and Changing My Mind. Other books include Yoga Body, Buddha Mind and OM yoga: A Guide to Daily Practice. She writes regularly for Yoga Journal, Shambhala Sun, Yoga International and Tricycle Magazine. Her frequent TV appearances include the Dr. Oz Show; Live with Regis and Kathie Lee; Good Morning, America and she has a cameo in Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun video, which she choreographed in 1983. Cyndi holds an MFA in Dance from UC Irvine and is a long time student of Gelek Rimpoche.
Leslie Davis, RYT 200
Leslie began practicing yoga in 2008 with Nancy Allen, her primary teacher. She continued her studies and practice of yoga with Desiree Rumbaugh, Cyndi Lee, Lila Brown, Paul and Sommer Sobin, and other wonderful teachers. She graduated in 2014 from the Thousand Petals Yoga Program in Chapel Hill, N.C. Leslie hopes to inspire voluptuous women like herself to have a more positive relationship with their bodies. Her classes incorporate gentle movement in sync with the breath and emphasize proper alignment for both freedom and stability.
Anne Alfieri, RYT 200
Anne Alfieri, RYT 200. Anne completed her 200 hour OM Yoga teacher training with Cyndi Lee in 2015, and is also certified to teach Yin Yoga and Pranayama. She has been practicing yoga in Lynchburg since 2005, primarily with Nancy Allen, but has had the opportunity to attend workshops and classes with many other wonderful teachers. Anne has a background in accounting and serves in a volunteer capacity for many organizations in the community; she is also Master’s swimmer. She is a strong believer in the benefits of yoga, for the body and for the mind. Her teaching is hands on, using the breath and clear instruction to find openness and strength in each yoga pose, while ensuring safe body alignment.
Trish Whaley, RYT 500
Trish fell in love with yoga after her first class and has been avidly practicing ever since. Her passion for learning and love of helping others led her pursue teaching. Completing 500 hour training with Cyndi Lee she has received certifications in meditation, pranayama, and restorative yoga. Studying under Corrina Bender she is certified to teach yin yoga. She also completed specialized trauma sensitive yoga training with David Emerson geared to help those suffering with chronic PTSD. As is the OM yoga tradition, she blends alignment, vinyasa and mindfulness in every yoga class. Her humor and grace create a soothing space for students of all levels to connect with their breath through movement. She believes in making yoga approachable for everyone and looks forward to being part of your practice.
